BRC Annual Retail Crime Survey 2011

Each year the British Retail Consortium (BRC) carries out a Retail Crime Survey to collect and analyse the impact of criminal offences against retailers. The BRC has worked extensively over the past few years to highlight that retail crime is not victimless and that these offences not only impact on the businesses concerned but also retail staff and the wider community.

The survey ensures that the BRC is able to present credible and robust evidence to support our policy position when lobbying Government, those responsible for law enforcement and those involved in the criminal justice system.

The benefits of completing the survey are outlined below:

  • It is the only comprehensive and up-to-date view of crime trends in UK retail
  • It provides key statistics which underpin the BRC’s media activity, ensuring retail crime achieves a high profile
  • It underpins the BRC’s political and lobbying activity, giving an evidential basis to our submissions
  • It gives credibility to our position and gives you a stronger voice
  • It provides you with a baseline on sector norms in crime losses and investment in crime reduction – participants will receive an exclusive early briefing on results

The survey should be completed by Friday 21 October. It can be accessed via the following link: http://www.brc.org.uk/survey_crime/

If you have any further questions on this year’s survey please do not hesitate to contact the BRC’s Crime Policy Advisor, Catherine Bowen, at catherine.bowen@brc.org.uk or on 0207 854 8925.
