The training material consists of a 'user friendly' A5 loose-leaf binder divided into six tabbed modules to be completed over six months or less. Each module is followed by a case study that the student completes and returns to bssa. The case studies, which will be assessed and returned to the students, are designed to test their understanding and give an indication of their progress. Participants can opt to return coursework by post or email.
The overall grade is based on coursework and the result of the final 2 hour examination, and an accredited certificate is awarded to participants on completion of the course.

This course aims to establish the basis for work-based competence, improving the efficiency of retail staff and adding to their appreciation of the importance of their role in your company.
Recently appointed sales assistants and staff with little or no formal training in customer service.
Participants should expect to acquire a clear perception of your company and their role within it, an improved recognition of the importance of customer interaction and service as applied with the techniques covered in the course, plus a better understanding of the merchandise and how overall this should lead to increasing their own efficiency and ultimately your company's sales / profits.
As of April 2009, the course has the added value of being accredited by City & Guilds which is a nationally recognised qualification.
